Maidstone Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Practice

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is essentially the REM state (the state of mind you enter when you fall asleep and dream), being accessed whilst you are awake. Going into hypnosis, is very similar to beginning to daydream or starting to fall asleep.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the practice of using hypnosis to achieve a particular goal.

How many appointments are required?
This is quite a difficult question to answer, as everyone has different needs. However, the vast majority of my clients require only one appointment.

How much do you charge?
My standard appointment fee is £120. The vast majority of my clients only need to see me once however if a subsequent session were to be required then this would be charged at £50.

I am on a low income, do you offer discounts?
I offer discounts to individuals who are genuinely unable to afford the full appointment fee. Please telephone me on 0800 0196 007 for further details.

Do you offer home visits?

In addition to seeing clients at my office in central Maidstone, I also offer home visit appointments to clients living in the South-East. Please telephone me on 0800 0196 007 for further details.

How do I book an appointment?

The fastest way to book an appointment is to speak to me directly by telephoning 0800 0196 007.

How soon can I have an appointment?
If it is an emergency, then I can usually see clients the same day that they phone. If it is not an emergency, then appointments are usually available within 7 days.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Different people report different sensations whilst they are in hypnosis. Some report feeling vivid, yet pleasant, daydreams accompanied by a feeling of dissociation and others simply report feelings of intense relaxation. I find that the only common theme which runs though all of these reports is that they feel better upon awaking afterwards.

Can you guarantee to cure my problem?

Unfortunately no therapy or medicine is ever 100% effective, and I cannot guarantee to cure all problems. However, I can absolutely state that the very vast majority of my clients are happy with their successes when I speak to them following their appointment.

What happens during the appointment?

During the appointment we will spend a short while discussing what it is that you would like me to help you with. I will then gently guide you into hypnosis and help you work through the problem. Afterwards I will give you a CD, specifically tailored to reinforce what occurred during the appointment.

Did you specialise during your training?

Yes. I spent additional time (in addition to my training) researching the rapid treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.

Am I allowed to have a friend with me during a session?

My office is set out with three chairs and therefore you are allowed to invite someone to accompany you during the appointment, if you wish. All I would request is that they remain quite during the appointment and are present as an observer rather than a participant.

What do the letters after your name stand for?
'D.Hyp.Psych (UK)' is my primary qualification. This means that I am qualified to work as a hypnotherapist. 'GHR (reg)' means that I am on the General Hypnotherapy Register. "GQHP' is an acronym for General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice which is a level of qualification awarded by the General Hypnotherapy Register. 'NRH' is another acronym awarded by the General Hypnotherapy Register which stands for 'Nationally Registered Hypnotherapist'.

Are evening or weekend sessions available?

Yes. The earliest appointment time is 8am and the latest appointment time is 10pm.

Do you record the sessions?
Not usually. However if you would like me to make you a DVD of the appointment then I would be happy to do so. There would be a small additional charge for this service.

Does your office have disabled access?

At present my office in Church Street does not have disabled entry. However I have access to another office in Maidstone Community Support Centre which has full disabled access.

Can you help children?

Yes, provided they are over the age of 8 years old. Individuals under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by an adult at all times during the appointment.

Do you have a criminal record?
No. I am in possession of an enhanced disclosure certificate which was issued by the Criminal Records Bureau. This states that I have never had any convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings recorded against me. My disclosure number is 001070958229.

Do you abide by a particular code of ethics?
