Anger effects different people in different ways. Sometimes people who have severe anger problems will ‘black out’ during an outburst and will find that they cannot remember what went on whilst they were angry (this is due to an effect known as ‘state bound memory’). Other people just find that they have a tendency to become angry very quickly without good reason. Irrespective of why an individual becomes angry hypnosis can be used as an effective anger management tool.


Using hypnotherapy as an anger management tool typically involves two separate components. To begin with, I’ll use hypnosis to help you unlearn any associations you may have created between anger and a particular person,  environment or trigger. This means that the next time you are presented with a situation where you would usually have lost your temper, instead you would remain in control of your behaviour.


The second component is where I use hypnosis to increase your anger tolerance level. This means that, although you would still have the ability to get angry if needed, you would not become angry unnecessarily. Quite often people who have difficulty controlling their anger refer to themselves as having a ‘short fuse’. Metaphorically I use hypnosis to lengthen this fuse.
